Warts and verrucae are small lumps on the skin about 1 in 10 people in the UK have warts at anyone time. They are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and they
usually go away on their own but can take years (5-10 in adults).
Different types of Warts are usually common on palms, knuckles, knees and fingers and verruca’s appear on the foot they may look different but they are essentially
the same. They aren’t harmful but they are contagious and can be spread to other people from contaminated surfaces or close skin contact.
Here at Sussex Skin and Laser Clinic we treat these successfully after a few treatments using our Nd:YAG Lynton laser that targets the bloody supply feeding the wart or verruca, denaturing the DNA of the virus without damaging the surrounding skin tissue.
