Alkaline Wash

Downy Hair Removal

The DMK Alkaline Wash system is a remarkable treatment for all areas of the face and body, designed to reduce fine, downy hair. This type of hair is very difficult to remove with other methods as the growth is usually dense and would take a long time to treat with electrolysis. It is also not suitable to be treated with IPL or Laser because it has no colour for the laser to target.

Alkaline Wash can remove large areas of vellus hair in one treatment without discomfort, in comparison to other hair-removal systems. It also works well when combined with electrolysis and laser, which are suitable for terminal hairs.

*Please note a patch test 72 hours prior to treatment is required and charged at £25 which is redeemable against your first treatment.
If you have had an Alkaline Wash treatment with us within the last six months and nothing has changed medically including any medications, recent vaccinations or illnesses nor have you had recent sun exposure to the area being treated then you do not need a re-patch test prior to your appointment if any of the above apply please advise you will need another patch test 7 days prior to your appointment and a non-redeemable fee of £25 is charged.

Common Questions:

How long does each treatment take?
The treatment usually takes ½ hour.

Why do I need a patch test prior to treatment?
The patch test is usually carried out on the area to be treated and ensures that your skin is suitable for the Alkaline treatment.

Are there any side effects?
The treatment is totally pain-free, however in some cases the area can appear red and warm. This is normal and will subside in a short period of time.

Which area of my face can be treated?
Any areas of the face can be treated provided the hair is of a suitable type.

How often should I have treatment?
After your first Alkaline Wash the hair will grow back at its normal rate. But as treatments progress, the re-growth rate will become slower and slower and your time between treatments will increase.

Will the treatment stimulate the hair?
No, as the Alkaline has a dissolving and damaging effect on the follicle it is impossible to stimulate hair growth.

What will happen after the treatment?
After your first treatment, the hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the hair regrowth rate will become slower and the hair will weaken; usually resulting in a permanent loss over a period of time.

The benefits to having Alkaline Wash Treatment are:

- The treatment is pain free
- Large areas can be removed in one treatment
- Ideal for people who are not suitable for other hair removal methods, such as waxing, electrolysis, and laser.
- Can lead to permanent hair removal
